Woke up
this morning to a bit of a mess.
Friday
night, the dorm office messaged me saying I had a payment due. Sent a memo to
Dad asking him to take a look, because I need to study. Later that night (while
I was asleep) Dad messaged me saying the residence payment for appears to be a
double count and I shouldn't be paying it. Problem is, it's now Saturday and
the reception is closed for the weekend.
Then I got
onto Warframe and my clan is gone. No
kidding. There was a little bit of drama going on earlier; one of the clan
leaders was this super immature guy who took a break from Warframe to play Grand
Theft Auto and League of Legends,
trying to amass a "multi-gaming" clan. Came back and tried to force
the 900+ members of "his Warframe branch" to comply and join his
"multi-gaming TeamSpeak channel" which nobody gave a shit about.
Seems like it culminated in the guy having an episode and disbanding.
Oh well.
I've become insensitive to this stuff after playing League. Some guys just have
these massive inferiority complexes, which is why they end up playing - to feed off the feeling of
being better than others. Just my misfortune that this time the guy happened to be a clan leader. And it's not like I'd expect any less out of a guy who is still playing GTA and League in 2017.
With
regards to the residence payment though, I have no choice but to see them on
Monday. I'll call my parents tonight to clarify everything is as they say.

Weather is
gonna soar today, so I'm preparing to make the move over to the shopping center
to sit down for basically the whole afternoon. Thank God my dorm room is very
insulated, so at least I get another hour of cool air before I start dying.
I guess
I'll go through the major events over the past few days. Mostly been studying,
chatting with gf, sleeping, playing a little Warframe.
Yesterday
I went and handled the accounting errors my dorm made for my payment. They made
three different errors on the same bill! I ended up eating lunch at
like 3 PM ;__;
Also
signed up for the gym last weekend. 12-month charge = $600+. Still cheaper than
what I paid last year ($900+) but I maybe should have taken a 6 months package
and then renewed with a 3 months package afterwards, miiight have been cheaper.
Got a
haircut too. Done by one of the Persian guys, who generally do well (as they own the business) but I haven't been cut by this guy in particular.
The only barber I won't take is the Chinese dude because the one time he cut me
it was completely lopsided and I had to make a huge styling effort to make sure
it didn't look like shit.

Incredibly
nervous about my midterm. Jono (a good
friend of mine who has almost straight HDs) said if I do the practice exam I'll
feel a lot calmer. Well, I did the MCQ section of the practice exam and got
11/20. That's a P in a supposedly grade-boosting course. To be fair, I was
super tired after all the studying, so I attribute some of it to exhaustion.
But I do NOT feel calm. I have no reason to be.
Reading
all the nonsense on how the US is faring is starting to scare me a little.
- Most recently, this tweet, although I have some doubts about its legitimacy. A lot of media can steal from draft executive orders (which are exactly as the name says, drafts) and interpret it as they wish, even though the draft order will never make it to realization. Additionally, it may also be dealing with government welfare specifically, and I have no intentions in my lifetime of taking anything from the US government.
- Also the protests...I'm not a fan of protests. The universal police practice of kettling means that you do not necessarily have to be involved with a protest to be arrested. You could just be walking home from work or doing your own personal business, and if you're in the wrong place at the wrong time the police cordon could detain you for hours. And this is a best-case scenario.
There are
many people, such as my dad or the Singapore MPs, who would argue differently.
It goes something like this: China is the second largest economy but per
capita it is still poor, very far behind the US. So China's economic power may not necessarily translate to a employment or career opportunities. As my dad simply said, "If China was so good, why are there so many Chinese migrants in Sydney?"
I'm not
going to worry about it for the time being. But every day that passes, I really
really want to improve my Chinese.
In other news: I got into a new Warframe clan less than a day after the disband, just happened to notice a public recruitment notice while about to log off. This is the first Mountain (300 members max) that I'm joining, instead of a Ghost (1000 members max). They seem okay, although the leaders insist on Mutagen Sample contributions "or they will start kicking". I'm not too picky about that, but if they force me to choose between studying and playing I will simply look for a new clan.
