Did pretty
damn badly in my writing exam. Still passed, but it's a pretty shit mark. TBH I
kind of expected it.
Right now
my mark cutoffs for the final exam are:
- Credit: 34/50
- Distinction: 44/50 (nearly impossible)
I'll be
happy with a high credit (ie. distinction for the final), as far as this course
goes. But if I want a fighting chance at a job I'll need to start
averaging distinction (or at least 1-2 marks off) for the coming year. That involves
studying harder for things other than the final exam.
Doesn't
help that I've been slacking all week too, messing around in Warframe. I'm tired of sitting here alone. I
miss my girlfriend. I miss Singapore. I miss being able to sleep at night
instead of tossing and turning in this blasted heat and sweat-soaked bedsheets.
(To be
fair: the new fan has been doing incredible wonders for the heat today. But
it's going to get a lot worse: the forecast says 38 tomorrow and 40 this
weekend. I only regret not buying the fan earlier.)

So I've
been feeling a little ill, probably because of the heat, plus I haven't been
eating well (too much bread; I could eat out more, but I feel bad wasting and
the loaves expire fast, so I have to eat/throw a lot).
Skipped
class today to catch up on all the lectures I haven't really been paying
attention on. Unlike the business courses, you can email the lecturer and tutor
and they will answer you, so I'm not super worried about missing consultation.
Went over
the marks of the essay.
- Lecturer said in the recording that "students should have a diagram for each section." How on Earth do people manage 4 diagrams with appropriate writing an hour...never mind. I guess I write too slow.
- I also screwed up employment and monetary policy (thank god the latter is only 5 marks or I'd have failed.) Everything else was actually decent enough but those (just labor + monetary) docked me 20% of the exam marks. Ouch.
I guess I
should have just studied harder. And maybe I can practice my handwriting too, I
write extremely slowly and that's why I dislike writing exams (unless they're
typed out). But the majority of lost marks seem to be for not fully answering
labor and monetary policy sections.
