Done With Summer School

I haven't been writing in my diary because of all the studying. So I'm just going to write here.

Final exam was terrible. I could see the terror on all my classmates' faces when I left. Basically the final question was a 6-part derivate: calculating MP of labor, MP of capital, labor per capita, and MP of labor / MP of capital for the Solow-Swam economic model. I don't believe anyone finished the final question.

Personally, I left 6 marks empty for that final question, which is pretty bad because I'm not all that confident about the MCQ section either. I was ill for the exchange rate section and I felt like not being in the lecture in person hurt my studying ability for it.

We'll see how it goes. I'm not confident but I have some ideas to pull up my grades for next semester:

  1. Get enough sleep. I now realize even studying less is more beneficial for my grades if I get more sleep. But of course I only want to do that in a worst-case scenario.
  2. Don't get sick. Sick = miss class = game over. What I want to do is to try as hard as possible to remove contact from other residents (why I got sick both semesters last year) and be diligent about [1] so my immune system stays strong.
  3. Don't study in the evening. At most, 30-60 minutes. Can't focus in the evening when there is social media, games, girlfriend, and a bed. Best to study less, sleep earlier, wake up and study in the morning.
  4. Study in the morning, preferably outside. Same logic as [3]. I see Toby's Estate making a lot of money from me in the future because they make awesome breakfast and have great service.

But what's done is done. Now I get to go home, laze around, see my girlfriend, and be happy for once.

Also, yesterday I wrote something about retail. Going back to quote myself:
Retail industry is really freaking dated, eventually going to fall to online shopping.
Within 24 hours of that post:

Why retail? Industries like retail and oil hire lower-middle-class white workers, who are the best bets for a Trump vote. But, as I've said before, they are a detriment to per-capita wages in the long run. to listen to the lobbyists of these industries is to sacrificing the welfare of a nation in order to secure votes for the second term.

On the (somewhat) good side: Now that the exam is over, I've done a little work into gun possession as a H1-B or H1-B1 visa holder. Here is a good forum thread on it. This page is less concise but also states that many dealers and enforcement agencies do not fully know the law and expect you to have a green card. Perhaps I should carry around a printed copy of the act for them.

I will be discussing my future with my dad, once again. Now I have a lot more concrete evidence against living in the US. But I might decide to go anyway. We'll see.
